  • Applicant must carry the E-Visa copy throughout the travel in India
  • The applicant may apply for 30 days Visa (Valid for double entry), 1 year & 5 years Visa (Valid for multiple entries)
  • Only for the USA, UK, Japan, the Applicant can stay for 180 days continuously, not exceeding 180 days. Rest all the countries are allowed to stay for a maximum of 90 days only, in case of 1 year & 5-year eVisa validity.

  • Visa is not required if applicants are continuing on to another country and will not be exiting the transit area of the airport.

Are there different kinds of e-visas for India? What is the validity of various e-Visas?

Yes, there is a different kind of Visas are available depending upon the purpose of the application. The validity of a visa will depend on the purpose of the visa application. The conditions are mentioned below:-

  • E-Tourist Visa for 30 days: The validity will be 30 days from the date of your first arrival in India. You may be granted double entries within the stipulated periods stamped on your Passport. The first rival date should be between the date of issue and the expiry of ETA.
  • E-Tourist Visa for 1year & 5 years: The validity will be 365 days or 5 years from ETA's grant. The issuance is valid for multiple entries & continues to stay, which should not be more than 90 days, although nationals of the USA, UK, Canada & Japan may reside in Indian for up to 180 days.
  • E-Business Visa: The validity will be 365 days from the grant of ETA. The issuance is valid for multiple entries & continues to stay, which should not be more than 180 days. If any citizen is intended to remain in India for more than 180 days, foreigners must register with FRRO/FRO. Within 2 weeks after the expiry of 180 days of his or her arrival in India.
  • E-Medical Visa: The validity of a medical visa would be 60 days from the date of the first arrival in India. Triple entry is allowed within the e-visa validity stamped on the Passport.
  • E-Medical Attendant Visa: The same rule will be applicable as E-Medical Visa.
Is it possible to convert my e-Visa to any other Visa?

No, Indian e-Visa is neither extendable nor convertible.

What are the ports of Arrival in India? Can I change the port of arrival/departure?

There are 28 designated Airports, i.e., Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Pune, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi & Visakhapatnam, and 5 designated seaports (i.e., Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Chennai and Mumbai seaports) to arrive in India. Usually, an e-Visa Application takes 72 hours to get approved or rejected or proper processing. I am applying e-Visa for myself and my son/daughter, who is a minor. Do I need to apply for a separate e-Visa for my minor child?

Do I have to pay anything else at the airport for an e-Visa (other than the processing fee paid by me online)?

What to do if the e-Visa website does not accept the payment?

Yes, it will still be valid. You need to bring your old Passport along with the new Passport.

How can I fill in previous Visa details inside the e-Visa application form?

You will be required to fill in the last Visa Details in the application form as it was mandatory. If you do not remember the previous details, you may write NA or a suitable phrase accordingly while filling the Indian e-Visa Application form.

Can I get Visa on Arrival (VoA) at Indian Airports/Seaport?

The Visa on Arrival facility is applicable only for Japan, South Korea, and UAE. Even such UAE nationals are eligible for VoA who had earlier obtained a regular visa or E-Visa. For other eligible nationals, they have to apply E-Visa online and wait until they get confirmation or an ETA grant for traveling to India.
