What is Srilanka ETA?

ETA is an official authorization for a Short Visit to Sri Lanka is issued electronically. The ETA is introduced with the intention of providing an efficient, reliable and simplified service to those who visit Sri Lanka. ETA holders will be issued a 30 day Short Visit visa stamp on Passport at the port of entry in Sri Lanka.

How to apply for the visa?

Instruction to be considered
  • The Tourist ETA is limited to 30 days in Total of stay in Sri Lanka from the date of arrival, and allows for two (2) entries.
  • The validity of the Visa for the two entries is 30 days and starts on the first arrival date. This means the departure date for the second entry must be within 30 days of the first arrival date.
  • Applicants who are visiting Sri Lanka for business meetings/negotiations, conferences, workshops/seminars or for short term training programs are eligible to apply for a business visa.
  • Your Business Visa will allow you to enter Sri Lanka for 30 days in Total, with Multiple Entry.
  • Travelers who want to visit Sri Lanka must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the planned date of entry in Sri Lanka.
  • We suggest passengers verify the information, print it out, and bring a physical copy on their trip. The check-in staff at the airports can also verify the registration on their system. However, we highly recommend that clients keep a copy available on a personal electronic device in addition to carrying a printed copy.
  • You cannot obtain a new ETA while you are in Sri Lanka, regardless of whether your current ETA is valid or expired.
  • Nationals of Yellow Fever affected countries must carry a yellow fever vaccination card at the time of arrival in Sri Lanka. See Yellow Fever countries here.

Types of Visa: -

  1. Tourist Visa: - Validity of visa is for 6 months from the date of approval and allow only Double entry for 30 days.
  2. Business Visa: - Validity of visa is for 90 days and allow Multiple entry.for 30 days.
  3. Transit Visa: - Single Entry valid for 2 days.
    1. Tourist e-Visa: - It will be used for following activity in srilanka
      • Sightseeing, Holidaying
      • Visiting friends and relatives
      • Medical treatment including Ayurvedic and yoga.
      • Participate in sporting events, competitions and Activities releating to cultural performance.
    2. Business evisa: - this visa will be used for following activity in srilanka:
      • Participate in business meetings & negotiations
      • Participate in Conferences, workshops and seminars
      • To take part in Short term training programs (less than 1 month)
      • Participate in religious events
      • Participate in Symposium
    3. Transit Visa: - This visa will be used for Transiting through Sri-lanka.
Documents Required
  • For tourist visa- Passport Personal Details and details of place of stay in Srilanka.
  • For Business Visa: - Passport details,  Contact details of Applicant Company, Contact details of the Sri-lankan Company, Place of stay in Srilanka.
  • For Transit Visa: - Passport Details, and Travel information with Flight detail or Final destination
